MTI asks industry input on trade war impacts

  • Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure has asked MHCA to gather industry comments about the potential impacts from retaliatory tariffs on American materials and products, should President Donald Trump proceed with his threatened 25% tariff.
    • Premier Wab Kinew has said Manitoba would hit American goods with counter-tariffs
    • Comments re impact on industry inputs made in the US can be sent to MHCA at catherine@mhca.mb.ca

Province proposes concrete specification changes; asks industry for feedback

  • MTI has requested feedback from the industry regarding its Draft Specification 1030 – Reinforced Cast-in-Place Concrete and Draft Specification 1032 – Superstructure Concrete
    • Comments can be sent to Nelson Ferrierra, of Trek Geotechnical, at nferreira@trekgeotechnical.ca by Friday, February 14, 2 pm

Trade transportation infrastructure an increased priority in face of tariff threats

  • MHCA, through the Western Canada Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association, is working with leading Canadian business organizations to press the federal government to focus on strengthening the country’s trade corridors and gateways, to diversify trade markets and relationships.
    • MHCA and WCR&HCA will meet on February 14 to discuss with partner associations including the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Construction Association renewing the push for a Canadian Trade Infrastructure Plan, to invest strategically in trade corridors and gateways, increasing our productivity and profile in global trade.

TDS Law seminar on tendering and procurement law – registration deadline Feb. 19, noon

  • TDS Law’s seminar for the industry on tendering and procurement – February 26 @ 8 am — will discuss the law of bidding and tendering, current issues and best practices. Topics include the forms and terms of tenders, bid security, bid depositories and court decisions that have affected the process
