Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure estimates investing some $5.25 billion on highways and structures over the next five years, according to its Multi-year Infrastructure Investment Strategy, released December 20, 2024.
“We are glad to have a long-term investment plan in front of us, allowing industry to see, five years ahead, what are the department’s priorities,” MHCA President & CEO Chris Lorenc said.
The investment plan is categorized by highways/structures, water-related infrastructure ($615 million), airport runway ($153 million) and general capital ($60 million) investment.
The department’s five-year plan lists numerous new projects for highway/structures.
The plan provides details on project type, regional location, highway number, project location and length, total estimated project cost (accuracy ranges from a preliminary estimate to an engineer/tender estimate) and whether the project is cost-shared or subject to federal funding.
