MTI specifications undergoing comprehensive review

MHCA is working with Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure and ACEC-MB to review all the current standard specifications, a process that will take many months and is an opportunity for our members to provide valuable input and be involved.

MTI, MHCA and ACEC-MB collaborate in a specifications working group, which meets regularly, allowing open discussions with industry related to new or planned revisions to standard specifications.

Because of the breadth of the comprehensive review, the specifications will be bundled in groups, and sent to industry members sporadically through the coming months, to elicit members’ input during the off-season (winter months).

Industry members on relevant MHCA Committees received, in late April, an urgent request to review a bundle in order to update some specifications for the 2025 construction season related to surveying, fuel cost adjustment, bituminous pavement, bituminous aggregates and recycled bituminous pavement.

MHCA sends out the bundles to relevant committee members and, once comments and suggestions are returned, they are compiled and returned to MTI for its consideration.

MHCA members with comments on specifications under review are encouraged to send them via Nelson Ferreira, of Trek Geotechnical, at neferreira@trekgeotechnical.ca
