As you are aware, the provincial government has lifted public health COVID-19 mandates regarding proof of vaccination, wearing of masks in public places and isolating when an individual tests positive for COVID.
However, Manitoba Public Health continues to recommend individuals follow good public health advice in all circumstances. This includes:
Public health continues to recommend people isolate in the following situations:
- people with symptoms should stay home and isolate for five days after symptoms start until they have no fever and other symptoms have improved over the past 24 hours;
- individuals who have tested positive but do not develop symptoms should isolate for five days from the date of the test;
- individuals should wear a well-fitting, well-made mask if they must have contact with other people while ill or when their isolation is finished for 10 days after the onset of symptoms or test date if asymptomatic; and
- people who have symptoms or test positive should avoid non-essential visits with higher-risk people or at higher-risk settings for 10 days after the onset of their symptoms or test date if asymptomatic.
With the lifting of public health restrictions, travel to Northern Manitoba is now permitted.
“Our industry has managed very well through the last two years to navigate the risks, continue working while being vigilant against infections,” MHCA WORKSAFELY® Director Don Hurst said.
However, Hurst noted, COVID variants are expected to continue to be among us for some time, meaning the risks will also continue.
“We advise industry companies to be aware of Public Health recommendations, continue to regularly assess the situation within their workforces and take the necessary steps to protect employees from infection,” Hurst said.
