MCGA hears, takes action on locates delays

The Manitoba Common Ground Alliance (MCGA) and its stakeholders, which includes the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, are calling on BellMTS to speed-up utility locate responses in Manitoba. 

Earlier this week, the MCGA wrote an urgent appeal to BellMTS to ensure, in working with the Alliance, that locates requested of Bell MTS are provided in a timely manner – within two weeks of a filed application – allowing commencement of construction and related activity.

The letter also reiterated that a timely locate helps enable economic growth, creation of jobs and the resulting revenue generation to all levels of government, including municipalities.

In addition, it was underscored that these delays undermine CBYD MB’s reliability and the integrity of the damage-prevention program that many stakeholders have worked hard to create. 

This letter was sent following, and referencing, a communication to BellMTS of similar concerns by the Portage la Prairie Reeve.

31 companies were recognized for their milestone membership commitments.

Matthew Neziol, of Bayview Construction, received the Safety Leader Award.
