A variety of proposed changes to City of Winnipeg cement and asphalt concrete pavement specifications will be the focus of a meeting next week with MHCA and industry representatives.
The proposed changes to capital projects in 2022 for Portland cement concrete pavement include new concrete categories and mix design requirements, and new testing to evaluate the durability of concrete. Updates are being made to fly ash type, and requirements for hot and cold weather concreting. Additional changes are being made to quality control and quality assurance tests.
Further updates affecting a variety of requirements, including tie bar installation, concrete placement, surface finishing and curing are to be made in 2023.
Asphaltic concrete pavement updates are coming for 2024, including new asphalt types based on application, updating mix-design and cement requirements, and weather limitations that affect paving later in the season.
