The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is applauding Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham for his commitment and dedication to ensuring Winnipeg remains a dynamic, prosperous, and future-ready city.
“We recognize your focus on economic growth and the importance of securing a new fiscal framework for municipal governments, and we commend you on the introduction of the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) and your commitment to long-term transportation infrastructure planning,” wrote Rodrigue Gilbert, CCA President in the letter sent to the Mayor on June 26.
The CCA wrote it applauds the Mayor’s leadership in advancing the TMP, particularly as it aligns with the Canada Trade Infrastructure Plan (CTIP), which CCA has long championed.
The CCA also calls out its support for the recent report from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), which presents a compelling case for a new Municipal Growth Framework.
“We commend you and all municipalities for publicly advocating for a modernized and sustainable funding model—one that reflects the realities of growth and recognizes the essential role municipalities play in driving Canada’s economy,” wrote Gilbert.
The CCA encourages the Mayor and Council to continue their leadership on these matters.
“You are uniquely positioned to start a national conversation and model a path forward that other cities across Canada can follow,” wrote Gilbert.
