Former MHCA board chair Colleen Munro is this year’s recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community by an Individual.
The Manitoba Chambers of Commerce recently announced the recipients of the 2026 Manitoba Champions Awards, recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations whose leadership, innovation, and community contributions play a vital role in driving the province’s economic success and strengthening communities across Manitoba.
Presented annually, the awards highlight excellence in two categories: the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Community and the Manitoba Champion Awards.
A Manitoba Champions news release highlights Colleen, CEO and President of Munro Group, as an established business owner in heavy construction and a proven entrepreneur and innovator.
Growing up on job sites, Colleen learned the business from the ground up, mentored by her father, Hugh Munro. She has spent much of her life forging a path in a male-dominated industry, earning respect and blazing a trail for others through her advocacy and leadership.
Over time, Colleen has embraced opportunities to expand her business offerings and today, the Munro Group includes Hugh Munro Construction, Lilyfield Quarry, Fort Whyte Lowbedding, and ClearSecure.
“On behalf of the MHCA Board, past Chairs and members, we extend our very sincere and heartfelt congratulations to Colleen. Her contributions past, present and continuing are exemplary and worthy of recognition,” said Chris Lorenc, MHCA President and CEO. “Our community, province and country are better because of Colleen’s leadership.”
The Manitoba Champions Awards are May 12 at Club Regent Casino and the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards are May 21at Government House.
