The MHCA applauds the announced support by Manitoba and Nunavut for a proposal to establish a strategic economic and energy corridor between the province and territory.
“Stronger ties, backed by infrastructure, between Manitoba and Nunavut is a necessary step towards building internal trade, diversifying markets for domestic goods and services and supporting prosperity for all Canadians,” MHCA President & CEO Chris Lorenc said.
Premier Wab Kinew announced the support April 16, in a joint release with Nunavut Premier A.J. Akeeagok.
The proposed Kivalliq Hydro-Fibre Link (KHFL) KHFL is a 1,200-kilometre transmission project that will enable renewable power transmission and fibre-optic internet connectivity to communities and the economy in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut by connecting into Manitoba Hydro’s power grid.
