MHCA seeks restart to Winnipeg capital program meetings

The MHCA’s City of Winnipeg Committee will seek to restart annual meetings with the City Public Works and Water & Waste departments for briefings on the capital program, including release of tender advertising schedules.

“These were regular meetings, each year, to review and discuss the annual capital program plans and, unfortunately, they fell off the agenda for a variety of reasons a few years ago,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said

The decision to seek official restart to the industry-City meetings was made at the January 6 Winnipeg Committee meeting, held via Zoom.

The meetings are good venues for discussing not just the City’s plans and industry capacity, but also to get early notice of any particular issues specific to projects and tendering, Lorenc noted.

“The pandemic’s disruption of regular business has interfered a bit with what was routine interactions with various offices across the levels of government, so we are redoubling our efforts to get those informal discussions restarted,” Lorenc said.
