Province seeks comments, input from industry on North Perimeter

Manitoba Infrastructure has announced it is beginning the planning for improvements to the North Perimeter, which will focus on closing all non-signalled median openings and stop sign-controlled access points.

The plan will limit access to the North Perimeter via intersections that are signalled appropriately or have interchanges.

The department specifically requested members of the heavy construction industry add their comments, which can be done through the Engage Manitoba website https://engagemb.ca/north-perimeter-safety-review.

This is the second phase of the province’s Perimeter improvement plan. The first phase laid out changes coming to the South Perimeter, also intended to improve safety and efficiency through closing 26 median cuts and the uncontrolled access to the highway.

Both projects will take multiple years to complete.
