Winnipeg Water & Waste releases 2020 tender schedule

The City of Winnipeg’s Water & Waste department has issued its 2020 construction program. MHCA has posted the document here on its website.

The W&W schedule follows the release by Public Works last week of its own program, posted here on MHCA’s website, along with a document listing a clause, to be inserted in tenders, outlining terms for schedule delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That document can be seen here.

The documents are a result of discussions City officials held with a variety of construction associations, including MHCA, on the need to list construction as an essential service during the course of the pandemic.

Both the City and the Province of Manitoba have committed to continue with their tender schedules, subject to the evolving pandemic public health orders. Construction projects will continue subject to necessary safety and health procedures that protect workers during COVID-19 conditions.

MHCA’s WORKSAFELY™ team has prepared a series of safety and health protocols for the heavy construction industry to ensure safe operations on work sites. They are available here.

“We are grateful for the dedication of both levels of government to seeing construction continue,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said. “Our industry provides critical public services, and that can be especially true during a pandemic.”
