COR® REQUIRED COURSES

The following courses are required for COR® certification. One management representative and one worker must complete the training.

2 days – includes lunch

Cost: $150 – WCB Rate Code 407/408 or MHCA Members

This action-packed 2-day course is a must for supervisors aiming for COR® certification. Learn your legal responsibilities and how to lead a safe, healthy workplace. This course covers everything from due diligence and hazard control to inspections, investigations, and building a culture of safety. Get the knowledge and skills to meet Manitoba’s safety standards and take charge of your workplace safety. Don’t miss out—secure your certification and lead confidently!

Cost: $125 – WCB Rate Code 407/408 or MHCA Members

This targeted training program is designed for senior leadership and safety and health committee representatives. It focuses on the key principles behind effective workplace safety and health management systems. Essential for those aiming for COR® certification, this course covers legal requirements, safety program development, and certification essentials. Participants will gain critical insights into leadership commitment, hazard control, worker participation, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with Manitoba’s safety standards. Equip your organization with the tools to foster a safe and healthy workplace and achieve COR® certification.

2 days – includes lunch

Cost: $150 – WCB Rate Code 407/408 or MHCA Members

This high-impact 2-day course is essential for anyone performing internal audits and aiming for COR® certification. Learn everything you need to conduct thorough audits—planning, document reviews, interviews, and reporting. You’ll get hands-on experience with a mock audit, applying audit tools and techniques to assess your workplace’s safety and health systems. Master the audit process and gain the skills to help your organization meet certification standards. Get ready to lead with confidence and make a real impact on your workplace safety!

This hands-on one-day course teaches participants how to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls in heavy construction. Learners will also develop practical safe work procedures to protect crews while maintaining productivity. Interactive exercises and real-world examples help participants apply hazard recognition and risk management skills on site.

Who Should Attend:
Employers, supervisors, safety coordinators, workers, and committee members responsible for hazard identification, risk assessment, and safe work procedures.

The following courses are offered.

1/2 day
Cost: $50 – WCB Rate Code 407/408 or MHCA Members

Dig in and stay safe! This hands-on, half-day course will give you the knowledge and skills to spot trenching hazards, understand the protection you need, and stay safe while working around excavations. You’ll dive into cave-in prevention, emergency procedures, and all the must-know regulations under Manitoba’s Workplace Safety and Health Act.

Who should attend:
Whether you’re directly working in trenches or occasionally entering them, this course is a must for anyone who wants to work smart and stay safe on the job!

1 day including practical
Cost: $75 – WCB Rate Code 407/408 or MHCA Members

Ready to take the lead in keeping everyone safe? This course is designed for anyone responsible for directing traffic on construction and roadwork sites. You’ll master the art of signalling, effective communication, and safety protocols to protect both workers and the public. Master the art of leading thorough and fair workplace investigations! This course takes you through each critical step—from reviewing incident reports to documenting findings. You’ll gain practical skills in planning and conducting interviews, analyzing evidence, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring that investigations are conducted with fairness and integrity.

Perfect for supervisors, managers, and safety committee members looking to sharpen their investigative skills and keep their workplace compliant.

Step into the driver’s seat of effective traffic management! This course will provide participants with a thorough understanding of the legal, safety, and operational requirements for setting up and coordinating traffic control measures. Through both practical and theoretical learning, participants will gain hands-on experience and contribute to standardizing practices across Manitoba. You’ll dive deep into the roles and responsibilities of a Traffic Control Coordinator, explore key regulations and safety standards, and master the best practices for keeping roads safe.

*Note: Flagperson training is a prerequisite for this course.

Want to become a great trainer? This course will teach you the skills to lead training sessions that are both engaging and effective. You’ll learn how to plan, deliver, and assess your training, keeping participants interested and involved.   • Coordinating multiple employers and workers safely

Participants gain hands-on strategies to keep the worksite safe, organized, and compliant while fostering a strong safety culture.

The RSTS Complete course is your hands-on guide to working safely in roadbuilding and heavy construction. Combining the RSTS Basic course with 16 specialty modules, it covers everything from earthmoving and paving to utilities and concrete operations.

RSTS Basic
Perfect for new hires or as a refresher, this 12-module course teaches:

  • Planning work to control risks
  • Conducting site-specific hazard assessments
  • Staying aware of potential hazards
  • Ensuring proper training and competency
  • Asking a supervisor when unsure

Participants gain practical skills to prevent incidents and build a strong safety culture on every construction site.

Build Safer, More Inclusive Workplaces: Join the Movement with Be More Than a Bystander Train the Trainer

The Be More Than a Bystander (BMTAB) training program is designed to help companies foster cultural and organizational shifts toward respectful, safe, and welcoming workplaces.
