Premier Heather Stefanson has announced that Central Services Minister Reg Helwer takes over responsibility for Infrastructure and the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization. The Premier also said there will be a cabinet shuffle early this year.
“I am confident in Minister Helwer’s ability, dedication and leadership skills to take on the new role as Manitoba faces a surge in COVID-19 cases and Manitobans are asked to take every possible step to help limit the spread of this virus, including getting fully vaccinated, limiting their close contacts and following the fundamentals and public health orders,” said Stefanson, in a news release December 30.
Helwer takes over for Springfield MLA Ron Schuler, who had served as Infrastructure minister since 2016.
“We hope to have a meeting with Minister Helwer soon, to welcome him to the portfolio and to discuss with him the industry’s priorities,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said.
