The MHCA and a number of organizations have asked that Winnipeg’s draft social procurement framework, crafted by the City’s administration, be put on hold until the working group created for input and its sub-group of industry and community experts have a chance to discuss it.
“The MHCA is determined to see this framework, and the overall policy developed for success,” MHCA President Chris Lorenc said. “That requires careful consideration and input by the social enterprise organizations and industry representatives who, with the Administration, can craft a strong foundation to ensure the target social equity groups benefit.”
The MHCA had a number of suggestions to Administration after seeing the draft social procurement framework.
“We hope to have continuing conversations with both the Administration and with the other representatives of the Social Procurement Working Group, which was formed upon Council’s direction to help craft this policy and its enabling elements.”
