Manitoba’s “150” projects to be publicly tendered

Infrastructure Minister Ron Schuler says most of the dollars for projects under a special highways fund to celebrate Manitoba’s 150th birthday will flow through his department.

Schuler, in a March 18 letter to MHCA, said additional information on the $45-million fund for commemorative highways projects will be made public soon.

“At this point, we can confirm that the projects will be subject to open, public tendering,” the minister wrote.

MHCA President Chris Lorenc said the association awaits the details on the special fund — what are the projects and how they will be tendered. However, it is good to know they will be subject to the open, competitive process, Lorenc noted.

“Open, competitive tenders are the best means of ensuring taxpayers get value for their dollar.”
