Spec review and working group proposed with MTI

MHCA and industry representatives will be meeting with Manitoba Transportation & Infrastructure to discuss, amongst a list of priorities, a proposal for an MTI Spec Review Committee.

MHCA has requested and MTI has agreed to establishing a formal specification review committee to formalize the process by which industry is consulted on proposed spec changes, and where industry concerns can be discussed.

It has also come to MCHA’s attention that the construction industry and materials testing labs are experiencing variances in testing results of specifications, particularly with the super-pave spec.

“Some in our industry are experiencing challenges in the acceptance and approval of test results received back from private labs,” MHCA President & CEO Chris Lorenc said.

MHCA is also seeking a review with MTI to clarify process language in Construction Specifications for Bituminous 801 and the Specifications for Quality Control 110.

A proposal to address the concern is currently being drafted for consideration.
