Employers: got a question about a WCB? Call us!

Navigating the complexities of the workers compensation system can be a daunting task to even the most experienced employer. For small businesses, and employers new to Manitoba, the challenges are even greater.

Now there is a place Manitoba employers, small and large, can call.

The Employer Advisor Office (EAO) was created to provide advice and assistance to Manitoba employers navigating the intricacies of the workers compensation system. It provides guidance and resource materials, including advice and information about employers’ rights and responsibilities under the Act.

Contact the office at 204-945-3363, or toll free at 1-800-282-8069 ext. 3363.

It is completely independent from the Workers Compensation Board, which enables the EAO to advise employers in confidence.

Employer Advisors have expertise in all areas of workers’ compensation. Advisors are available five days a week, eight hours a day to field calls from a toll-free line. An employer can call with any question related to the Act and WCB, whether that be claim related or with regards to registration and premiums.

“Although we only opened our doors (last) summer, we’ve already had positive comments from the clients we’ve assisted,” says EAO Manager Tracy Hancocks. “Comments like ‘I just wanted to thank you for your help and detailed response, this was very helpful and I appreciate your service.’”

Hancocks is hoping word spreads about the free and confidential services provided by their office.

The EAO, made possible by the 2021 amendment to The Workers Compensation Act, is funded by the contributions made by employers to the workers’ compensation system. A similar program for injured workers has been available under the Act since 1982 through the Worker Advisor Office.
