Heavy Santa brings Christmas joy to David Livingstone School

The MHCA’s Heavy Santa visited David Livingstone School Friday, December 15, to bring some Christmas joy to the 85 students in grades 1 to 3.

The kids were surprised with pizza and goody bags, and piles of presents were waiting beside Santa’s chair. The children sang ‘Jingle Bells’ to make sure Santa found his way to them.

One by one, the students got to meet the jolly old bearded one and get a gift, with help of Santa’s helpers. A few students even had gifts to give to Santa, drawings and letters of thanks that they had created. A couple students had a good laugh as Santa lost his hat a few times, keeping his helper on her toes.

Once every student had sat with Santa, it was time to open their presents. A flurry of wrapping paper and screams of joy exploded throughout the gym as Jelli Worldz, Aqua Critters, Disney toys, puzzles and assorted family games were revealed.

Many thanks to those who contributed to the fundraising at the Curling Classic, Spring Mixer and Chair’s Gala. This year’s annual Heavy Santa saw $3,800 put toward buying the presents, treats and lunch.

And special thanks to MHCA Office Administrative Assistant Julie Desroches who worked hard to make Santa’s visit possible.
