MHCA WORKSAFELY®’s SMITH achieves NCSO designation

WORKSAFELY®’s Education Programs Coordinator Jessie Smith has achieved the National Construction Safety Officer designation, having written the exam in August.

“We are proud of Jessie and impressed with the skill and professionalism she’s shown in her work with us over just a few short months,” said Don Hurst, Director of WORKSAFELY® Education and Training. “We knew she would be a strong addition to the team and this achievement indicates her dedication and her potential.”

Smith joined the MHCA in July, with good experience in workplace safety and health in the industry, including as a safety officer.

“I’ve been working in the heavy construction industry for the past 6 years and have always been interested in safety as a career,” Smith said. “I wanted to pursue my NCSO to combine my knowledge, experience and training to further myself in my career and continue my education.”

Hurst said the NCSO designation is a good foundation for providing safety education and training, and continuing support, to all MHCA members and COR® clients.
