Students complete a demand-ing MCSC course

Congratulations to the 14 students from MCSC’s first Demand Led Foundations to Heavy Construction Training Program! The training program concluded with a wind-up celebration. The last few weeks of the program consisted of Intro to Heavy Construction. Led by the Manitoba Heavy Construction Association (MHCA) WORKSAFELY® team, the students learned the basic skills needed to be successful in the heavy construction industry. The intro training also included Worker Orientation, WHMIS, and heavy equipment simulator training.

The overall eight-week MCSC course discussed job readiness and skills for success, focused specifically on Introduction to Heavy Construction. Representing underrepresented groups from within our construction community, students who successfully completed the course are now looking to gain employment in the heavy construction sector. For more information about the Demand Led Foundations to Heavy Construction Training Program, reach out to James Murphy, MCSC’s Community and Youth Liaison, jmurphy@mbcsc.com
