Tell your MP we need a trade corridor investment strategy

A coalition of leading Canadian business groups is calling for Ottawa to build a trade corridor investment strategy, recognizing the need to put Canada back on the road to trade prosperity.

The Canadian Trade Corridor Plan – backed by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Construction Association, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters, Civil Infrastructure Council Corp., Canada West Foundation and Western Canada Roadbuilders & Heavy Construction Association – lays out a strategy for multi-year investments, including criteria for prioritizing nation-building infrastructure projects.

Among our global trade peers, Canada is the only country that doesn’t have such a strategy. Canada ranked 32nd in the World Economic Forum’s global survey of quality of transportation infrastructure in 2019, behind Azerbaijan; in 2009 it was ranked 10th.

“The Coalition is working in the federal arena now, advertising widely and arranging meetings with senior office holders, to press the Trudeau government to acknowledge the need for CTIP in Budget 2024,” MHCA President & CEO Chris Lorenc said. (Lorenc also serves as President & CEO of the WCR&HCA)

“We need members to add their voices to help get Ottawa’s attention, and to send their MP a letter to promote CTIP now,” Lorenc said.

Here’s what you can do, to add your voice to this critical initiative:
